Study Buddy App

Summary

For the 2023 Rutgers Creative X "design-a-thon", the task was to design a new mobile app to help Rutgers students take care of their physical or emotional wellbeing. I worked on a team with two other beginner UX designers, and completed the app– from ideation to high fidelity prototype– within the 12 hours allotted to us. I gained experience collaborating with other designers, as well as how to act strategically despite limited time. Our product, "Study Buddy" placed third out of hundreds of entries.

Our Goal

Our submission's target audience is college students looking for a way to destress, learn, and connect with others on campus. Our collaborative platform provides students with a fun and interactive way to learn with their study buddies and specific tools geared toward maximizing student learning.

Some of the problems of our target audience that we identified were a lack of motivated learning and a lack of engagement between the platform and the users. We found that most of the current learning and studying platforms fail to incorporate the aspect of easy, accessible academic resources and a fun way to stay on track with school.

Our submission addresses the specific problems of our target audience because we combine the fun aspect of having your own study buddy, as well as incorporating an AI learning technology model that is similar to ChatGPT. By utilizing our platform, students are able to ask questions, learn with others, and find new methods to relax and re-energize.
